Abstract

This study was conducted to revise the previous database of emergency and disaster, which had some problems of the ineffective search engines and limited data collections. Therefore, this database was to help the user access easily to this site and get up-to-date data on the safety as well as the emergency and disaster.
The following steps were taken to develop the REDNIC.
1. To analyse the problems of previous database of emergency and disaster
2. To identify the concepts such as the emergency, disaster, and safety
3. To set up the menu of the REDNIC services and to establish the contents
4. To design the database
5. To collect the data
6. To insert the data
The URL of this site is http://rednic.redcross.ac.kr, named as the Red Cross Emergency and Disaster Nursing Information(REDNIC). Finally, this REDNIC site consists of database of scientific journals, of doctoral dissertations, of up-to-date related-data, and of policy, laws and regulations, and link sites etc.
In conclusion, this REDNIC database will contribute to establish the infrastructure of information on the emergency, disaster and safety in our country.
